  • Y-DNA passes almost unchanged from father to son. This test is only for men and is available at FamilyTreeDNA.com.

    • $229 (usually $268) 67 marker test (for better comparisons within surname group projects)
    • $299 (usually $356) 111 marker test
  • mtDNA passes unchanged from mother to child. This test can help determine ancient maternal history and is available at FamilyTreeDNA.com for $169 (usually $199.
